Comfortable?
April 14, 2009
You can find a verse in every book of the New Testament that descibes a form of suffering for the sake of Christ. Here’s one that I like to stop reading about half way through and skip over the second part…
Romans 8:16-17…The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, IF indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. NASB
The Easter Crowd
April 8, 2009
Easter is next Sunday, and this usually brings the biggest crowds to your local church. And typically preachers all across the world see this as their one big chance to reach people for Christ. The one chance to reach the biggest crowd. To explain as clearly as possible what Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and ressurection accomplished for all of humanity. But look at what Jesus did when He had a large crowd captive.
In Luke 8:4-8, it says that a large crowd gathered from many towns to hear Jesus. He didn’t preach to them clearly and plainly so that they all understood! He actually told them a story about some farmer planting seeds. A bit of a confusing riddle really. And when He was done it was “He who has ears, let him hear.” “If you get it, you get it, If you don’t , you don’t. And He was done-walks off stage.
Why did He do that? Jesus only wanted to speak to those that wanted to hear. He puposely made it confusing. He didn’t want to waste His time with all of them. He knew that the ones who really wanted to know Him and to know more would seek Him out and follow Him. Luke 8:9-10.
